OK, as a bit of warning: Yes this is going to be something of a rant, but I feel I have to get it off my chest, especially since it's to do with this very site:

A number of times in the past, I've worried about things I've gone to post in my journal here, out of worry that someone might happen across it and find it offensive.

Likewise, I've really been put off of even drawing certain things because I know I'd be to worried to show them here, and in the rare occasions that I have drawn anything even resembling nudity, I would post it here, no matter how much I might have liked the picture.

Now, I've got nothing against artistic nudity, I don't particularly enjoy it, but I do know the rules do allow it, while it's artistic. And before anyone attacks me for it: yes there are some images in my favourites that do depict nudity, I'm not denying it, these are still pictures that I feel are artistic in some way that I have liked for whatever reason (which isn't necessarily the nudity), and I have submitted 1 nude image which I have marked mature, but you really cannot see anything in it.

A while ago, one of the artists I was watching posted an image of theirs and listed in it's description all the rules to do with adult content. It was a re-submission of an image of theirs that had previously been taken down, apparently due to it's 'Adult content' but when looking at the rules, there was nothing specifically wrong with the image.

But right as of this moment, there image on the front page under "popular" which is an outright violation of one of these rules (I even went as far to double check) I'm not going to say what image, or by who, but it's there... [edit: it's been removed now] I've already sent a violation report, it should get sorted out eventually.
And on the subject of artistic nudity: I've seen a lot of nude pictures on the front page, that have been far from artistic in my opinion, but in these cases, it probably is just down to me not seeing the 'artistic' side of it.

And it's not just the porn that's appearing on this site, but also the art theft. For example: What is the deal with all these 'base' pictures (which are pictures that look like they've been done in MS paint where they've traced out and effectively undressed and shaved all the characters in a picture, leaving just the pose and face the same) a lot of these are done without permission of the original artists, or even of official art. The same goes for "Vector" art... What the hell are the rules regarding these two things...? OK, sure with the base pictures, some are done from the start as base pictures, with the intention of letting others draw over them to make their own characters, and some have indeed given permission to these base makers to let them do this to their pictures, this is up to them, and if that's how the feel about their art, then it's up to them. It's just when they go ahead and do it WITHOUT PERMISSION which I think is against the rules that bothers me. Sure, go and do it but keep it to your self! Or wait till the person has given you permission to upload it before you go ahead and do it!

Personally, if I had the time and patience, I would go around reporting every base or vector art that I know doesn't have permission.

Now, I know this isn't so much an issue against the moderators here: I know they're busy people with lives of their own that doesn't necessarily involve checking every picture here. I also fully understand that the idea of even trying to sift through all the submissions on here to look for possible rule violations would take forever. I just wished the people submitting these things would realise there are rules here, and they are there for a reason and that there should be worse consequences for when they do repeatedly break these rules. And also that "other people are doing it" is not a valid excuse!
